On 17 February 2026, the National Institute of Intellectual Property (Qazpatent) held an online seminar entitled “Filing a Patent Application for an Invention, Legal Protection, and Patent Search” for the faculty members and staff of Ilyas Zhansugurov Zhetysu University (Taldykorgan) (hereinafter referred to as “the University”).
The seminar was aimed at strengthening the University’s scientific and innovation capacity, enhancing knowledge and competencies in intellectual property (IP) management, and further strengthening cooperation between the Qazpatent Technology and Innovation Support Center (TISC) and the University.
The opening remarks were delivered by Aleftina Sembayevna Bakhtaulova, Vice-Rector for Research and Internationalization of the University. She emphasized the important role of patent activities in advancing the University’s scientific and innovation potential and expressed her appreciation to Qazpatent for organizing the seminar and supporting the University in enhancing its expertise in intellectual property management.
The seminar was moderated by Uldana Karatayevna Shalabayeva, Head of the Patent Research and Technology and Innovation Support Centers (TISC) Coordination Department at Qazpatent, who also delivered a presentation on the activities of the Technology and Innovation Support Centers (TISC). It is noteworthy that since 27 April 2022, the University has been a participant in the TISC project coordinated by Qazpatent and has actively contributed to improving knowledge and competencies in the field of intellectual property management.
As part of the seminar, Gulziya Bedenovna Kylyshbayeva, Chief Expert of the Department of Formal Examination of Inventions and Plant Varieties, delivered a presentation entitled “Filing Patent Applications and Legal Protection of Inventions and Utility Models.” In addition, Shyngys Zhandarbekovich Alimbekov, Chief Expert of the Department of Patent Examination in Physics and Mechanical Engineering, presented a session on “Patent Search.”
During the seminar, University staff actively participated in the discussions and received comprehensive answers to their questions regarding patent application procedures, legal protection of inventions, and patent search practices. The University also expressed its interest in continuing cooperation within the framework of the TISC project.
The seminar organized by Qazpatent contributes to strengthening partnerships with research institutions and enhancing the professional competencies of the University’s faculty and staff in the field of intellectual property. This, in turn, encourages greater applicant activity in filing applications for the protection of intellectual property rights.
