KAZPATENT HELD AN ONLINE SEMINAR FOR KORKYT ATA KYZYLORDA UNIVERSITY AS PART OF THE PROMOTION OF THE TISC PROJECT ON THE TOPICS: “INTERNATIONAL PATENTING OF SCIENTIFIC DEVELOPMENTS” AND “COMMERCIALIZATION AND GRANT FUNDING.”

On March 19, 2026, the National Institute of Intellectual Property (Kazpatent), in cooperation with the Science Foundation, held an online seminar for the faculty members and staff of Korkyt Ata Kyzylorda University (Kyzylorda) on the topics “International Patenting of Scientific Developments” and “Commercialization and Grant Funding.”

The event was aimed at strengthening the University’s scientific and innovation capacity, enhancing knowledge and competencies in the field of intellectual property management, and fostering cooperation between Kazpatent’s Technology and Innovation Support Center (TISC) and the University.

On behalf of the University, the opening remarks were delivered by Maynura Abiltayevna Buribayeva, Vice-Rector for Research and International Relations. She emphasized the importance of patent activities in advancing the University’s scientific and innovation potential and highlighted the University’s projects with commercialization prospects.

Aydyn Kydyrbayevna Artykova, Deputy Director of the National Institute of Intellectual Property, also addressed the participants. In her welcoming speech, she noted that the new draft Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan introduces a new provision concerning the protection of intellectual property rights. In particular, Article 23 stipulates that everyone has the right to the results of their intellectual, creative, and other activities, and that intellectual property is protected by law. This provision recognizes the right to the results of intellectual activity at the constitutional level and places an obligation on the State to ensure their legal protection.

The seminar was moderated by Uldana Karatayevna Shalabayeva, Head of the Patent Research and Technology and Innovation Support Centers Coordination Department at Kazpatent. It is worth noting that the University has been a participant in the Technology and Innovation Support Centers (TISC) project since March 11, 2024.

During the seminar, Olzhas Nuradinovich Zhubanov, Deputy Head of the Formal Examination Department for Inventions and Plant Varieties, delivered a presentation on “International Patenting of Scientific Developments.” In addition, Aizhan Shaikhanovna Zheksembayeva, Director of the Investment and New Projects Department of the Science Foundation JSC, presented information on the Foundation’s grant funding opportunities.

Throughout the seminar, the University’s staff actively participated in the discussions and received answers to their questions regarding international patenting and the commercialization of scientific developments. The University expressed its interest in continuing cooperation within the framework of the Technology and Innovation Support Centers (TISC) project.
